Yep, that’s me; your new fitness bestie. I’m here to help you infuse your own dream lifestyle into your fitness and wellness goals, and give you the concrete tools to build up your own little house of self-love.
Have you ever heard the saying that goes…
Why is that phrase so popular?
Well, let’s just lay it out: if you’re about to go into a life-saving surgery and you tell the guy putting you under that you haven’t had a drink in a year, even though you downed 3 martinis the night before with the girls (oops…), the anesthesiologist could potentially give you the wrong dosage and do some serious damage!
OK, I know what you’re thinking.
Why are we talking about anesthesiology right now, Bethany?
Well, because I’d like to start a formal petition for a similar phrase that should be classified as even more crucial in life:
The reason is pretty much the same. If you’re trying to make moves to get your life going in the right direction and you lie to yourself about your situation, you’re likely to make the wrong moves that could affect you in the worst possible ways. The key to your success is to stop running. Be brutally honest with yourself first!
Maybe you’re thinking to yourself, “Well, you don’t get it, Bethany. My situation is an easier-said-than-done situation. I have to give myself breathing room where I can.”
Well, yes! Absolutely. We should always be practicing kindness to ourselves as often as we can. If one ball drops, we get to decide if we’re going to pick it back up. But… one very important way of honouring ourselves is to ensure that we don’t go back on something we said we would do.
If you said you’d eat clean from Monday – Friday, eat clean.
If you told yourself you would hit your morning workout by 7 am, set that alarm to get up and do it.
If you promised yourself that you’d let go of a toxic friendship, follow through on that promise.
Every situation that requires brutal honesty, facing reality, and possibly even giving up your current identity will ALWAYS be an easier-said-than-done situation. I see this in my clients all of the time. I always tell them that you have to stop using dishonesty (to yourself!) as a tool for allowing yourself to stay stuck, or as an excuse for why you can’t make things better.
Here is my wisdom tidbit for today, and I hope this finds you:
Yes, you might lose who you think you are by facing your own reality, but I know that you’ll wind up finding out who you truly are instead!
I can help you get there! <3
